| Editorial Reviews:
Product Description VST/AU virtual instrumentThis library is based around the 4 key brass instruments used in modern horn section line ups: Bb Trumpet - (Taylor London Standard model)Alto Sax - (Selmer super 80 II)Tenor Sax - (Selmer super 80 II)Trombone - (Conn 88h) Having a choice of instruments allows the user to create a variety of brass arrangement styles. Funky JB horns would use the tenor, alto and bone to create a funky, reedy sound (3 piece). Modern soul horns would use trumpet, tenor and bone (3 piece). Fuller rock arrangements would sound best with all four. You pick the line-up you need for your track, you're in control! All the instruments have been pristinely recorded using a Neumann U89, Neve Pre-amp and edited in Protools.

| Customer Reviews: KAB licensing issues March 6, 2010 Andrew J. Firth (Australia) 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
KAB is an excellent sample library if you're looking for great sounding brass. The trombones tend to need some tweaking and the saxes are sampled with the rock/funk player in mind-hard reed/metal mouthpiece, not really a jazz/swing sound. I also had some issues licensing it after buying a new Mac Pro but [...] always responds immediately and has no problems issuing me with the appropriate licenses/advice. I'm not sure who the guy in the other review was dealing with, but I've have had no problems getting tech and set up advice with this product. At the end of the day, NO horn sampling software can ever replace a real, top-notch player so I don't understand why the other reviewer was attempting to compare KAB's trombone sounds to a real instrument! If you're looking for a nice sounding set of jazz/funky horns (with mutes that can be user shaped and nice reverb and on board effects), KAB is a great product at a very reasonable price. You can use it as a standalone app, VST plug in AND Audio (for Mac). The saxes include baritone and the brass and both have fall offs and glisses etc for more realistic effects/techniques. If you are having second thoughts about KAB because of the licensing problems issue, I wouldn't worry. The tech support at [...] is excellent. There are also instructional videos on youtube that go through everything step by step with the licensing issue. I recommend KAB to anyone looking for realistic sounding brass samples that don't cost an arm and a leg like the competitors in this area do! You also get all of the saxes, and brass for a big band set up with mutes on brass all in the same package, unlike some other products, where you have to by volume 2 or 3 to get mutes on brass and then another vol. to get a baritone sax included.
Licensing of Product is Horrible and and sound quality is So So September 3, 2007 P. Bright (United States) 9 out of 11 found this review helpful
I bought this product with great expectations. I installed it on a Vista Machine and got my one Authentication Code that the company allows. The software is tied to a single machine. In todays use of security dongles (like Steinburg software) I would of thought that would have been a better licensing method since the dongle could be moved to machine to machine but then the software could only be run in a single instance at any given time. It seemed to work ok in Vista, however vista had issues in itself. I found myself re-installing the OS back to XP because other problems with hardware not working in Vista.
Getting a code for the XP install was a lot more of a hassle and numerous emails later I got it but it was very painful to get to that place (replacement Auth Code). The company doesn't like giving out codes other then the first one.
As for the sounds, the trombone sounds are horrible. I can say this because I was a trombone player for 20 years. If I sounded like that I would have never got a paying gig. The trumpet sound was good. The sax sounds didn't sound that real to me either.
Also about 4 months later my motherboard went out on the computer and bought a replacement and then reloaded the OS with a new hard drive for that replacement machine ( since the other was toast ) Contacted the company via email for a replacement Authetication Code (not a second code but a replacement code). I got a very lengthy email stating this was againist company policy to give out additional codes. So bottom line computers being computers ( they do break ) the company will not work with existing customers who have purchased the software if hardware fails. The dealings with this company left me with a very bad experience. This company gets your money and you get one licenese file ( maybe two ) but after that if anything happens to your hardware your SOL. I would never buy a software product made by this company again.
